Leading owner Barry Connell is looking forward to seeing Foxrock test his powers at the highest level once again in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown on February 8.

Having filled the runner-up spot in the lucrative Paddy Power Chase over the festive period, the Ted Walsh-trained seven-year-old went one better with a comprehensive victory in last weekend's Boylesports Handicap Chase.

He was placed in Grade One company as a novice last season and Connell feels his charge deserves another crack at the big boys.

He said: "He didn't have an over-hard race the last day and he seems fine since.

"We're looking forward to running in the Hennessy. It looks as though it will cut up to six or seven runners and he's entitled to take his chance.

"We didn't enter him in the Gold Cup (at Cheltenham).

"Let's get the Hennessy out of the way before we make any plans."

Connell has not yet decided whether to let The Tullow Tank line up on the same Leopardstown card.

The dual Grade One-winning hurdler has disappointed the last twice over fences, but holds an entry in the Flogas Novice Steeplechase.

"We'll see. We're keeping an open mind about him," said Connell.

"He's going to have a schooling session in a week or so and we'll go from there.

"He didn't jump as well as he can over Christmas."
