Former Champion Point To Point Bumper winner Akorakor gained a long overdue second racecourse winner at Downpatrick today, landing the lowly opening Easy Does It Maiden Hurdle for trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Bryan Cooper.

The Gigginstown House Stud owned gelding made a proper start to his racing career when following up a winning point-to-point debut with a win in the 2013 renewal of Fariyhouse's prestigious Point To Point Bumper.

However he then failed to win in seven starts but starting his second stint for Elliott today, eventually proved too six lengths too strong for Mystic Princess

Afterwards Elliott stated "we thought he'd win coming up as it wasn't a strong race and was a big drop in class. We'll see where we go from here but we'll see if we can find another small race to get him a bit of confidence."
