Last year's winner Sruthan is reported in fine form as he gears up for the Big Bad Bob Gladness Stakes at the Curragh next month.

The Group Three on April 19 will again be the first port of call for Paul Deegan's charge, with the Curragh trainer looking forward to getting the Arakan gelding back on a racecourse.

The five-year-old failed to make any impression pitched into Grade One company in the Lockinge last year but Deegan regrets running his charge on fast ground at Newbury.

Three solid placed efforts in Pattern company followed that one disappointing run and connections will gear his campaign around early- and late-season targets this term.

"The Gladness is the plan - the same as last year," said Deegan.

"He's in great form and did a super piece on work on the grass last Tuesday.

"He's loving the soft ground and we can't wait to get him started.

"He'll be a spring and autumn horse. He won't run on fast ground again.

"He went to Newbury last year and it was the wrong thing to do."
