Michael Hussey has lodged an appeal against the severity of the 14-day ban he received at the Curragh on Monday.

His mount, the Denis Hogan-trained My Painter, was beaten half a length by Bobby Jean in the P G Duffy & Sons Citroen Handicap, with the two principals separated by nearly the width of the track.

Hussey failed to ride out the 33/1 chance in the closing stages and admitted afterwards before the stewards that he didn't see the winner until passing the line and should have won.

The stewards found Hussey in breach of Rule 212 (a)(i) in that he failed to take all reasonable measures to ensure his mount gained the best possible finishing position.
