Toscanini will step back up in class for the Group Three Racing Post Lacken Stakes at Naas on Monday.

Mick Halford's Godolphin-owned colt mixed it with the very best in the juvenile division last season, most notably filling the runner-up spot in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and chasing home dual Guineas hero Gleneagles in the National Stakes at the Curragh.

Toscanini enjoyed a confidence-boosting comeback success in a conditions event at Navan earlier this month and Halford is looking forward to another exciting year.

"It was nice to get his head in front and give him a bit of confidence and the plan now is to go to Naas on Monday for the Lacken Stakes," said the County Kildare trainer.

"He had some terrific two-year-old form right the way through and it's difficult for him when they're running at that sort of level.

"The race on Monday is a Group Three for three-year-olds, so we're looking forward to it."

Toscanini is one of 16 entries for the six-furlong contest, with others of note including Anthem Alexander, Newsletter and the Henry Candy-trained Limato, who is set to run at Haydock on Saturday.
