Henderson ponders Simonsig plan

Nicky Henderson will give Simonsig more time before deciding on a date for his reappearance.

The nine-year-old had been in contention to have a first outing since winning the 2013 Arkle in either a Flat race or a suitable one over jumps, and he did hold entries at Killarney and Aintree earlier this month.

The Seven Barrows handler decided to swerve those with the classy grey, who missed the entire 2013-14 season with a splint injury, after feeling they arrived a fortnight too soon for him.

Henderson said: "We will give Simonsig a short break now then decide what to do and where to go with him."

Plans also remain fluid for 2012 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Finian's Rainbow following his late defection from an extended two-and-a-half-mile chase at Killarney on May 10.

The 12-year-old has been absent since pulling up behind Johns Spirit in the 2013 Paddy Power Gold Cup.

Henderson said: "I am really not sure what to do with Finian's Rainbow, we have just got to have a bit of a think."
