After winning the bumper at Tramore yesterday Paul Fahey was on the mark again in the opener at Kilbeggan, the Follow Kilbeggan Races On Facebook Maiden Hurdle, as his Do Try Dolly ran out an easy winner.
Available at 9/2 last night the bay daughter of Millenary opened on-course at 11/4 before going off the 2/1 favourite.
Having chased the leader in the early stages she improved to the front with a circuit to go and soon went on.
She extended her advantage after the third last and kept on from the second last, going on to score easily by twenty lengths under Mikey Fogarty. Bright Prospect (7/2) was second under Brian O'Connell for Liz Doyle while early leader Fort Smith (4/1) was three parts of a length back in third under Bryan Cooper for Gordon Elliott.
"I had the last winner at Tramore last night and now the first here. That's the nearest I'll ever get to a double!" joked Fahey.
"I told Mikey to be positive as she had handicap experience and with novices in behind they wouldn't be able to jump with her.
"She's only a little filly. She got brought down in a bumper here and it took her a long time to get over it. It was a horrible fall and it took her a while to get her confidence back.
"Luckily the owners were patient. She'll tip away over the summer now.
"The owners (the New Booleigh Deere Syndicate) are all based in Kildare and this was the last day they could come and see her as they are agricultural contractors and are supposed to be cutting silage!"
