A mile next year for Limato

Henry Candy is looking forward to seeing Limato tackle a mile next season after his fast-finishing effort in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp.

The three-year-old has done much of his racing over six furlongs, including a second-place finish behind Muhaarar in the inaugural Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

However, the step up to seven furlongs appeared to suit when he danced clear in the Park Stakes at Doncaster last month and he looks likely to stay even further after coming from a long way back to chase home French 2000 Guineas winner Make Believe in Paris on Sunday.

Candy said: "He just gave them too much start and Ryan (Moore) said he wasn't enjoying coming down the hill on the ground, which was loose on top.

"The winner is obviously very good and it was another very good performance from our horse, so I'm delighted with him.

"That is him finished for the year now. He's had a long enough season as we started him off in April to get him into the new sprint scheme.

"We won't be in any hurry next year and can take our time with him a little bit.

"It looks as though he wants a mile now."
