Andre Fabre is hoping owner Khalid Abdullah will keep New Bay in training next season.

The Dubawi colt has enjoyed a stellar year, finishing second to stablemate Make Believe in the French 2000 Guineas before winning the French Derby, Prix Guillaume d'Ornano and the Prix Niel.

He lost nothing in defeat in Sunday's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, finishing third behind Golden Horn and his older stable companion Flintshire.

While Fabre ruled out another run this season, he hopes to get him back next year when he could be a major player in all the top European middle-distance races.

"He's definitely finished for this season," said Fabre.

"I would guess he'd stay in training next year but, as yet, the Prince has not told me either way, no decision has been made."

Flintshire, however, will be kept on the go after finishing second in the Arc for the second tim e .

He was also second in the 2014 Breeders' Cup Turf before winning the Hong Kong Vase and those races are options again.

"He has the Breeders' Cup (at Keeneland) as an option or he could go to Japan and Hong Kong," said Fabre.

"The Breeders' Cup would be the obvious target.

"As he likes fast ground, all the races overseas are possible to him, but the worry would be they can get a lot of rain sometimes in Kentucky at this time of year."
