Cheltenham Foxhunter winner On The Fringe could make his seasonal return on St Stephen's Day.

Trainer Enda Bolger is looking to kick off the 10-year-old's campaign in the same hunter chase he has contested at Down Royal for the past two seasons.

Although meeting with defeat on his first two starts last term, On The Fringe hit a rich vein of form in the spring adding to his Cheltenham win with victories in both the Aintree Fox Hunters' event over the Grand National fences in April and the Champion Hunters Chase at Punchestown the following month.

Bolger said: "On The Fringe usually starts off on St Stephen's Day up north.

"We haven't really thought about it at the moment, but he's in full work and he's about a month away from a run, so it might slot in for him.

"If we don't, there's no great panic with him. There are loads of races in January or he could even start back in a point-to-point.

"That'd be with a view to getting him ready to go to Leopardstown in February for that meeting. They're the normal steps we take with him."
