Champion Bumper favourite Aspen Colorado is set to make another appearance at Leopardstown before a decision is made on his Cheltenham Festival participation.

The JP McManus-owned four-year-old made a big impression when winning at the Foxrock track on his racecourse debut for Aidan O'Brien last month, but connections are keen to give him more experience before committing to a run at Prestbury Park in March.

O'Brien's son and assistant Joseph said: " A decision on Cheltenham hasn't been made. The plan is for him to go back to Leopardstown for a winners' bumper (February 28) and JP and Frank (Berry, racing manager) will make a decision on Cheltenham after that."

O'Brien junior is currently in the process of obtaining his own training licence, but it is unlikely horses will run under his name at the Festival.

He said: "I'm not sure when I'll get the licence yet, but I wouldn't have thought it will be in time for Cheltenham.

"I'm not 100 per cent sure, but I'd imagine it will probably be after Cheltenham and then hopefully I'll be able to have runners during the summer."
