Red Verdon is set to be supplemented for the Investec Derby at Epsom, trainer Ed Dunlop has confirmed.
The American-bred colt was narrowly beaten on his first start of the season at Doncaster, but went one better at Chester earlier this month and followed up in spectacular fashion at Haydock.
He faces a big step up in class for the premier Classic, but after a pleasing workout on Sunday morning, Dunlop has been given the green light by owner Ronnie Arculli to add him to the Epsom field on Monday at a cost of 75,000 pounds.
Champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa will ride the chestnut for the first time.
Dunlop said: "The decision has been made that, subject to health checks, the horse will be supplemented for the Derby.
"He galloped this morning under Silvestre de Sousa, we were very happy with him and the plan is for Silvestre to ride him at Epsom next week.
"We still don't know how good this horse is, but he has a very ambitious and excited owner who is always up for a challenge."
