Preview curragh 26th Jun

All eyes will be on Minding at the Curragh on Sunday as she takes on older horses for the first time in the Sea The Stars Pretty Polly Stakes.

Aidan O'Brien's daughter of Galileo has already confirmed herself the best of this year's three-year-old fillies with brilliant wins in the 1,000 Guineas and the Oaks and there is a strong suspicion that this intermediate trip might see her produce her best performance yet.

Koora heads a two-pronged British challenge but she could only finish second in Group Two company at York and that form leaves with plenty to find with Minding, while as likeable as Speedy Boarding may be, James Fanshawe's charge has been found out at the top table already and needs to improve.

There are three more Group races on another excellent card and the Coral.ie Curragh Cup sees Royal Ascot hero Sword Fighter lock horns with stablemate Landofhopeandglory once again.

The former should prove hard to beat if again allowed to dictate matters from the front but Pat Smullen will be well aware of this and won't be far away on Cork Derby victor Alveena.

Ger Lyons will have been thrilled with the reappearance effort from Chemical Charge here just over three weeks ago and he might prove too strong for Sir Isaac Newton, another recent Royal Ascot winner for team Ballydoyle.

Chemical Charge was making his first start for Lyons having previously been unbeaten for Ralph Beckett in 2014 and despite missing a year through injury, he looks to have retained all of his undoubted ability and remains a fine prospect.

Two-year-olds take centre stage in the Grangecon Stud Stakes and Ellery Lane will be out to confirm the striking impression she made when scoring on debut at Limerick nine days ago.

The Barronstown Stud EBF (C & G) Maiden kicks off the action at 2.15 and all eyes will be on the impeccably-bred Taj Mahal, while the classy Ardhoomey must concede weight all round in the valuable Tote Rockingham Handicap.
