Chasing switch still on Cole Harden agenda

Cole Harden still appears likely to embark on a chasing career in the autumn, with trainer Warren Greatrex issuing an upbeat report as he continues his comeback from injury.

The seven-year-old won the World Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2015 but could finish only fourth in his defence of the title back in March.

His season was then cut short after sustaining a knee injury in the build-up towards a shot at the Liverpool Stayers' Hurdle at Aintree.

Although yet to tackle fences in his 17 career starts to date, Cole Harden is as short as 20-1 for next year's RSA Chase.

Greatrex said: "Cole Harden is still doing his recuperation on the walker. He will get checked out this week and we will be able to see where we go next. Touch wood, he seems OK at the moment.

"I think the plan is still to go novice chasing, but we will just take it day by day. There is no long-standing plan at the moment.

"I would like to to just find an easy novice chase somewhere as he's had hard races the last two seasons, so it would be good to start in an easy race and go from there."

A switch to fences also beckons for One Track Mind, who rounded out his campaign with a Grade One success in the Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown in April.

The Upper Lambourn handler added: "He has done really well over the summer and is due to come back in this week.

"The plan is to go novice chasing with him and he will only get better and better over fences. I would imagine we would look to start him off over two and a half miles somewhere."
