Trainer John Ryan and jockey Donagh Meyler completed doubles in the Guinness Sligo Handicap Hurdle at Sligo today, winning with eight-time winner Kylecrue

Meyler, fresh from last week’s Galway Plate win on Lord Scoundrel, was earlier successful on the Karl Thornton trained Duke Cass while Ryan’s earlier winner was with the Adrian Heskin-partnered Aunt Eileen

Following Kylecrue’s success, Ryan stated “he's as tough as nails, has been a great servant and keeps pulling out. He doesn't do a tap at home so I have to keep running him to keep him fit.

“He's just a mark down from being a very good horse but had some extraordinary runs over hurdles and was second to a horse of Gordon Elliott's (Prince Of Scars) that went on to win a Grade 1.

“He’s a smashing horse and is probably better over hurdles than fences. He'll go for the same race that he won at Listowel last year and we'll freshen him up before that.”
