The David Marnane trained Little Clarinet caused a 16/1 upset when winning the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden at Navan today, scoring under jockey Colm O’Donoghue.

The Martin McHale owned daughter of Requinto overcame a wide draw in 16 before improving to lead a furlong out, for a half length win over Hanisan Prince.

Afterwards Marnane stated “she's a lovely filly but was a bit green in Leopardstown (on debut) and is still a bit green and will improve next year.

“We have her in the Tattersalls Sales race next weekend and she might run.

“She's a filly for next year, she is plenty big enough and still has a little bit of growing to do - I couldn't be happier.”
