A Toi Phil provided the highlight on another great day for Gordon Elliott at Navan when landing the Grade 2 Webster Cup.

Ruby Walsh deputised for Bryan Cooper, who was stiff and sore after a fall at Cheltenham on Friday, and the 6/5 favourite took control approaching the last for an easy win in this 2m4f event.

The Gigginstown-owned gelding staying on strongly on the run-in to beat Nearly Nama’d by a convincing eight lengths, with The Tullow Tank a further two and a quarter lengths adrift in third.

Elliott said, “I was worried about how he would handle the real heavy ground but he was good. He’s probably better in Grade 2’s or Grade 3’s rather than a Grade 1. It was a good performance.”

The Cullentra House trainer recorded a historic six-timer earlier this season on Troytown Chase day in November and, while not quite matching those heights this afternoon, a 186/1 five-timer is another notable achievement.
