American Tom could make his seasonal reappearance in the Poplar Square Chase at Naas on Saturday.

The Rich Ricci-owned six-year-old made an impressive start to his Irish career in a novice hurdle at Gowran Park in the autumn of 2015 and while he was not seen in action again for over a year, he made it two from two in a beginners chase at Punchestown last December.

He was a huge disappointment on his most recent start at Naas in January, but was found to be coughing post-race and remains an exciting prospect.

American Tom is one of seven entries for Saturday's Grade Three contest, with Gordon Elliott's Ball D'Arc and the Henry de Bromhead-trained Ordinary World other contenders.

Grade Three honours are also up for grabs in the Fishery Lane Hurdle, which has attracted 10 possible runners.

Elliott has a strong hand in a race restricted to four-year-olds, with Roaring Bull one of five potential hopefuls for the Cullentra handler.

Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Joseph O'Brien could run the exciting recent Wexford scorer Early Doors, while Willie Mullins' sole entry is Meri Devie.

Elsewhere on the card, Blow By Blow could make his belated hurdling debut for Elliott, having been off the track since winning the 2016 Champion INH Flat Race at Punchestown when trained by Mullins.

Mullins' dual Grade One-winning hurdler Bacardys could kick off his career over fences on what promises to be an informative afternoon.
