The David Marnane trained Settle For Bay completed a winter hat-trick of consecutive wins at Dundalk today as the three year old gelding landed the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Apprentice Rated Race under jockey Donagh O'Connor.

The French bred son of Rio De La Plata was a winner at the Co Louth venue under jockey O'Connor on November 1 and 17 previously and followed up in style today when beating Ishebayorgrey by three and a quarter lengths.

Afterwards Marnane said “he’s still green but I think he will be a very nice horse.

“He’s had a nice break since his last run and might be a bit fresh tonight. We’ll give him another run here and then see what we’ll do with him. He might come back here for a 25 grand handicap.

“I think he’s tailor made for Dubai; he handles this place well but I think he’s probably equally as good on grass but never had much of a go on it.”
