Ger Lyons and Colin Keane brought up a Fairyhouse double when Khalid Abdullah's Fulimate made a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden (Plus 10 Race).

The Charm Spirit filly ought to have derived great benefit from this experience as Keane somehow engineered a passage for her down the inner to eventually pip Ballydoyle's experienced Coral Beach by half a length.

Lyons and Keane had earlier been successful in the opening claimer with Elysian Plains

"That's lovely. I thought it was a cracking ride. She missed the break, through greenness from a bad draw and he took his medicine," said Lyons.

"He felt they went quick, it didn't look like they went quick but they definitely quickened from the bend.

"On another day Wayne could have rolled in on him and stopped, and she would have been unlucky, and you would have accepted it.

"She got the roll of the race but she had to be brave to do what she's done.

"All that I can think is that you can't beat pedigree. They are good honest horses and are ready to perform like that and to win is a bonus as I think there is plenty of improvement in these horses going forward, fingers crossed.

"With those colours you'll keep aiming high. It's all about black-type with these pedigrees and with fillies no matter whether they are these colours or our colours or whatever.

"When I win maidens it's all about getting black-type and then we'll just see, the horses will tell us.

"She's quick and you'd stick to six for the minute anyway."

Mr. J. M. McGrath, Chairman, stood down temporarily for this race and was replaced by Mr. M. O' Malley.
