Tom Gibney notched his first Killarney winner today as the Irish Grand National winning trainer landed the Dawn Milk Run Handicap Hurdle with Play The Game

Ridden by Jonathan Moore, the son of Lawman was today scoring his third career win and his second success of the year when arriving late on the run-in, to edge past Line Out and score a half length success.

Gibney later said “I was disappointed with him in Bellewstown the last day, as I thought he’d be there or thereabouts. Anyway, we decided to change the tactics today and it worked.

“It’s lovely to come down here and win a pot like that and it’s my first winner down here. I’ve had a heap of seconds, but never seemed to be able to get the head in front.

“He’s entered in the Galway Hurdle. It’s unlikely he’ll get into it, but if by some miracle he did he would definitely have a go.”
