Ruaidhri Tierney's Ringrone Castle put his rivals to the sword in good style in the extended three mile handicap at Roscommon.

The 16/1 chance, from 25/1, moved ominously well into second on the long run to the third last.

He eased past Old Supporter at that fence and was ridden by Ryan Treacy to assert after two out.

Once the last was negotiated, the pair strode home by four lengths from Old Supporter (16/1). Killeen Elegance was a length and a half further back in third at 25/1. Naughty Molly got up for fourth at 7/1 from the gambled-on Jamesmicheal

Ryan Treacy said: "He travelled and jumped well all the way. Ruaidhri just said to put the job to him turning in and he did it well.

"He loved the ground. Unfortunately Ruaidhri and his father can't be here today because his uncle passed away but there was somebody in the sky looking out for them to give them a lift."

This was Ringrone Castle's first attempt at a handicap. He has been extensively campaigned in point-to-points where he won four times.
