Geological recorded his fourth win at Dundalk and seventh in total for Damian English within the past 20 months when landing the Bar One Racing Mourne Handicap.

The six-year-old son of Rock Of Gibraltar adopted his customary front-running tactics, and benefitted from an uncontested lead to make all in this six-furlong event.

The 8/1 chance kept on well under pressure for Ronan Whelan, completing a quick double on the evening, holding on well to beat St Brelades Bay by three quarters of a length. Spanish Tenor was the same distance further back in third.

English said, “They gave him an easy lead and when he gets it he’s deadly dangerous. He loves this place and it’s a nice pot to win.

“We’ll probably keep him for here now, and I’d love to qualify him for the All-Weather Championship in Lingfield. We might even travel to England if we can’t qualify here.

“He’s some money spinner and is all heart.”

Geological was bought for just 800 guineas as a three-year-old, and has now won about 150,000 euro in prize-money for current connections.
