Very few horses got into the beginners' chase at Galway as Voix Du Reve impressed on his chasing debut.

The 13/8 joint favourite was clear with market rival Mind's Eye racing past the four furlong pole with two fences to jump.

He looked briefly vulnerable to Mind's Eye as he wasn't as nimble over the penultimate obstacle but once he cleared the last he had Mind's Eye in trouble.

Voix Du Reve travelled much the better on the climb for home and Mind's Eye could make no impression turning for home.

The winner cruised home by seven and a half lengths in the final furlong to give Willie Mullins a double on the card (earlier successful with Sancta Simona .

Mind's Eye had to settle for second. Stormey came in a remote third some 21 lengths adrift.

Jockey Paul Townend said: “He was very good. He's not massive but he measures them really well and he's quick over them.

“He was a bit slow at the first one in the dip but sorted himself out well and was quick at the last one.

“He's a good jumper and it was an impressive performance.”

Voix Du Reve won twice over hurdles in Ireland.
