The six runner Sponsor At Tramore Rated Novice Chase at Tramore today was a dramatic contest with victory in the end going to the Tony Black trained fortunate winner Teqany

Four to five favourite Moonball was the leader when crashing out at the fourth last fence, leaving Monatomic in front of Teqany, with the remaining three runners struggling in rear.

Monatomic, under Davy Russell, comfortably had the measure of Teqany after jumping the second last fence and with his only danger then being in front of him, Monatomic did indeed crash out at that final obstacle, leaving Teqany to coast home the fortunate 18 lengths winner from Whatsinthecorner

Co Wexford based Black later said “what can you say, he was a lucky winner I suppose! When Moonball fell I thought we might win it and then Davy (Russell, on Monatomic) tipped up at the last.

“He is a lucky type of horse; the last day in Gowran a joint-favourite fell early, and then they had to bypass the last.

“They are there to be jumped though.

"We brought him here today because it's a handy track and the fences aren't that big, but Danny said he'd jump a big fence at a bigger track. It all depends on the ground."

"He was to go out on grass because he is very ground dependent but once the ground stays good, he will run away. Whenever it changes then he'll be off for the winter.”
