The money spoke for newcomer Abacadabras in the bumper at Galway and the money was right but only just.

Gordon Elliott 's charge looked home in the final furlong but Kerrkenny Gold really served it up to him with a strong finish before losing out by a short head.

The winner was returned the even-money favourite from 5/2 in the morning. The runner-up was a market drifter to 14/1. Port Stanley completed the placings in third at 8/1.

Jockey Lisa O'Neill said: "He is a nice horse and goes well at home. I could see Patrick (Mullins, on Poker D'ainay was off it a long way out so I knew the dangers were going to come from behind.

"He ground it out to the line and he deserved it."
