In first time blinkers Dancing On A Dream (4/1) was an unchallenged winner from the front in the opening Awards And Gifts Claiming Maiden at Bellewstown.
Soon clear under Shane Foley, the Peter Savill-owned and Jessica Harrington-trained three-year-old had a reduced lead at the finish.
In truth though she never looked like being reeled in. Ultimately the successful daughter of Dream Ahead had two and a quarter lengths and a head in hand over Russian Vine and Zaamar
“That's job done. She's been second a lot of times and she had been running very well for me,” said Mrs Harrington.
“I just thought this was an ideal opportunity. It's job done and if she gets claimed she gets claimed, that's what she's in there for.
“It's great to get that done. That's my first horse for the owner and he had another runner the other day, Chasing The Dawn, which was second in Galway. She runs in Cork on Saturday.”
Joseph O’Brien claimed Dancing On A Dream (25K). Russian Vine (10K) was claimed by Kevin Coleman. Triple Nickle (10K) took the fancy of PC Bloodstock to be trained by Bernard Llewellyn. Cherryville (5K) goes to John McConnell.
John G. Carr, trainer of Ivaldi (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge showed signs of being in season prior to the running of this race
A.J. Slattery, rider of Triple Nickle trained by J.A.Stack, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left for the final two furlongs.
The Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the straight involving Rehoboth Beach (USA), ridden by D. O'Brien, Small Town Boy ridden by T.P. Madden, Triple Nickle, ridden by A.J. Slattery, and Cherryville, ridden by C.T. Keane, where it appeared Cherryville suffered interference on the outer. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards considered that the incident was caused by accidental interference and took no further action.
Mr. William Flood, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
