Highest Benefit added to his course and distance gains from last month when triumphing again for Willie Austin and Trevor Ryan in the concluding Tom Carroll Memorial Handicap Chase at Tramore.

The eleven-year-old now has three wins from his last four starts and though second and third, Misty Adage and Wake Up Early threatened danger on the run-in, the winner fended them off by two lengths and three parts of a length.

In truth the Austin owned/trained and bred Beneficial gelding was looking good from a fair way out to justify the faith of those that supported him into a returned 4/1 from an opening show of ‘fives.’

The aforementioned Wake Up Early was a pretty solid 9/4 favourite. He did alright but other ‘money horses,’ Whats In It For Me and Captain Cruiser finished at the rear.

The Stewards interviewed D. Meyler, rider of Misty Adage, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found D. Meyler in breach of Regulation 10.3. (g) frequency. Having considered D. Meyler's record in this regard the stewards suspended D. Meyler for 6 racedays in persant to Regulation 10.6 (a).
