Sassy Yet Classy in first-time cheekpieces, brought up a double for Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell in the mares' handicap hurdle at Navan.

The 8/1 shot came through best to score by two and a half lengths in this two mile four furlong contest. Bay Ambition took the runner-up berth at 7/1 and she was the same distance in front of My Club Colours (5/1).

Gordon Elliott said: "In fairness to her, she won her bumper on soft ground at Listowel a couple of years ago but she has never really had the ground she wanted.

"Davy said he went wider than he wanted the whole way but he wanted to keep her in a rhythm and she probably wants further.

"It's great for the lads (AP Partnership) from Kerry as they had a winner at the point-to-point in Punchestown also today with a horse trained by Cian Collins, who works with me in the yard. It's great for them and this mare will go for something similar next."

Elliott and Russell also combined with Cracking Smart (16/1) in the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle.
