Former jumps jockey Kevin Coleman, a brother of Cheltenham Festival winning rider Aidan, enjoyed his first winner in Ireland when 22/1 chance Red Vermillion took division 2 of the 1m 5f handicap.
Four lengths off the winner of the first division, Oromo when sixth here last week, she kept on best from over a furlong out to beat Place Des Vosges by a length and a half.
Ridden by Sean Davis, who enjoyed notable success in Britain last year as an apprentice and now rides without a claim, the winning filly showed the benefit of that comeback run, enjoyed the extra furlong and a half and got the trip well.
Winning trainer Kevin Coleman said: “This is my first winner in Ireland. I had a winner last May in Beverley.
“She's genuine and she'll run to her mark everyday. She's limited but it's great to get a winner.
“She's a light little filly and we didn't do a whole lot with her since the last day. She had four days off and she only hacked.
“We were coming here thinking it might have been a quick turnaround but it worked out.
“She has schooled over hurdles and will probably go down that route. Seanie thinks there is another one in her on the Flat.
“A mile-and-a-half is too short and this race was ideal. If there were 45-65 races over two miles she'd win a couple.
“I have eight in training at the minute. This one is the slowest of them but she's the only one that has actually got a bit of money!”
