Winning Impact (7/1) scored a local success in the Irish Mail On Sunday Handicap at The Curragh today winning for trainer Jimmy Coogan.

Ridden by Declan McDonogh, the son of Pyrus was patiently ridden before being produced with his challenge two furlongs out. Winning Impact eventually battled his way into the lead inside the final furlong before scoring a half length win over Cheval Rouge

Afterwards Coogan stated “He always runs well at The Curragh and he may go to Galway next if the weather stays like this.

“He loves soft ground and seven furlongs or a mile is his best trip.”
