Battle Of Marengo won the Group 2 Juddmonte Beresford Stakes to justify odds of 4/9 at the Curragh (bringing up a double for Ballydoyle after Magical Dream .

Joseph O'Brien moved back to within one of Pat Smullen in the race to be champion jockey when guiding the successful Galileo colt to a smooth three and a half length victory over Orgilgo Bay Smullen (75 to 74 leader over O'Brien) rode the third placed Muaanid who was a head back.

Trainer of Battle Of Marengo, Aidan O'Brien said: "You'd have to be delighted with that especially considering Joseph said he hated the ground.

"He'd be a possible for the race in Doncaster (the Racing Post Trophy) although he's done plenty this year and he doesn't need to run again."

Ladbrokes go 16/1 from 20/1 Battle Of Marengo for the 2013 Epsom Derby.

Paddy Powers have introduced Battle Of Marengo at 20/1 for the 2013 Newmarket 2000 Guineas. They leave him at 16/1 for the Derby.
