Irish racegoers starved of action until Wednesday, have a Monday afternoon treat with Knockfierna the highlight of the sextet crossing the Irish Sea.
The eight-time winning Charles Byrnes trained daughter of Flemensfirth lines up in the Listed OLBG Mares’ Hurdle at 2:05 in Kempton with Davy Russell booked for his sole ride of the afternoon.
The quirky 7yo has every chance of beating the home team if putting her best foot forward. However as a couple of performances at Limerick have demonstrated this can’t be taken on trust.
Meanwhile at Ludlow John ‘Shark’ Hanlon sends over three runners in the shape of Rudigreen, Admiral Hawke and newcomer It’s All An Act.
Paddy Brennan will ride all three of the Hanlon runners while Derek O’Connor will be aboard the other two Irish trained contenders who are both trained by Noel Glynn.
The Clare horses are Inamalabalusaloon, victorious under the point-to-point king at Cartmel in July and a noteworthy Heron Island newcomer, Kaki Island in the bumper. This youngster will run in colours made familiar to a wider audience through the exploits of Prairie Moonlight and King Keano.
