Champion Trainer Willie Mullins combined with Champion Jockey Davy Russell (completing a double) to win the Fairyhouse On Facebook Hurdle at Fairyhouse today with Midnight Game.

Russell was patient on the son of Montjeu before moving to the front approaching the final flight, staying on well to defeat 4/9f Staying Article by seven lengths,

Afterwards Mullins stated “Midnight Game is a lot stronger this year but when I took the quarter sheet off him on the parade ring, I thought he looked big and I was a bit worried. Maybe he is better with that bit of strength though.

“His jumping seems to be sharper this season and we'll probably move him up to a Grade 3 race next - he looks to have plenty of gears.”
