Racing is set to place at Sedgefield as scheduled as the County Durham track passed their precautionary inspection at 8am.

Clerk of the course Phil Tuck said: "We've got air temperatures of 0.5C, the ground temperature is a bit lower and where it's tarmac it's pretty icy, but on the grass there's just a ground frost and the stick is going straight through."

The first of a seven race card gets underway at 12:20pm.

Fontwell also held an inspection though the prospects of their meeting taking place were unclear.

Following a precautionary 8am check, officials needed to look again at 9am after frost covers had been lifted and Clerk of the course Edward Arkell was able to confirm that racing will take place at 12:40pm.

Arkell said: "We're happy to race, it looked positive first thing under the covers but we wanted to lift the covers back before giving the go-ahead, as we would have looked a little silly.

"It got down to minus 2.3C overnight but it's zero now and sunny and rising."
