The six year old hadn't finished out of the first two in eight career starts before his disastous run at Exeter where he jumped left throughout before running out just before a fence in the home straight.
Philip Hobbs' charge had chased home Dynaste on his previous start at Cheltenham but he won't be seen again this campaign.
"He sustained a minor tendon injury but that wasn't the reason he was jumping so much to the left," Hobbs told At The Races.
"Unfortunately he's out for the season. Next season he'll have to run in conditions races with little experience which isn't ideal."
Hobbs had better news about his William Hill King George VI Chase hopeful Captain Chris who got back on the winning trail at Ascot last time.
"He's in really good nick actually. He worked very well yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased with him.
"He can jump to the right and Kempton's right-handed so it shouldn't be a problem, but he jumped straighter at Ascot and that was more positive."
