Another all-the-way success was posted at Tramore as Starkie (3/1) gamely saw off Moveable Asset aided by a fluent quick jump at the last in the two mile novice hurdle at Tramore.

Phillip Enright partnered Henry de Bromhead’s charge and was never headed in seeing off Paul Townend on Willie Mullins’ 5/4 favourite Moveable Asset by two lengths.

“He’s a good tough horse and he jumped well. He idled in front and he’s a chaser for the future,” Phillip Enright commented.

There was money for the winner earlier today as bookies priced him up at 9/2 before contracting to 9/4 before racing. A certain amount of this shortening though was due to Ted Veale, the forecast favourite, being declared a non-runner due to ground conditions.

Starkie had previously made all at Cork in a two mile maiden hurdle on December 9.

In this five-runner race, nothing else got into contention as third-placed Carries Darling was beaten 21 lengths by the winner.
