Sherika showed that she's a useful mare when winning at Gowran in the middle of last month. She put memories of her eclipse at Limerick in the interim, very firmly in the past when triumphing in the Leugh Handicap Hurdle at Thurles under Mark Enright.

This win for Grainne O'Connor's charge wasn't un-expected either as she found a starting price of 10/1 from 12s.

The successful daughter of Beneficial got to the front after the second last hurdle and she stayed on well from before the last to keep that dour stayer, Drawn N Drank at bay by four lengths.

Vincent Row, the big gamble for this contest, failed to reach the frame, finishing fifth whilst Aintree National hopeful Rare Bob ran a lovely race to finish sixth.

Husband of the winning trainer, Paurick said: "She's owned by a shower of lads from Tubber, close to home, and it's nice to get the win." (TW & EM)
