Cheltenham has reported an inch of fresh snow overnight as they continue the battle to stage Saturday's Trials Day meeting.

While the track is protected from frost by covers, snow sitting on top of those covers could prove problematic.

Staff at the track managed to remove a large amount of snow on Tuesday, but clerk of the course Simon Claisse admitted the threat of further overnight snow was a concern.

Cheltenham tweeted: "Around an inch of snow overnight. Will update as and when we have any significant news."

Officials have already raised the possibility of staging the meeting on Sunday if the track is not fit for racing on Saturday.
