The Turf Club has announced that there is to be an 8am precautionary course inspection at Leopardstown ahead of the scheduled fixture on Sunday, 27th January due to the projected weather forecast. The course is currently raceable with the ground described as heavy.

It is the chase course that is causing concern after being raced on today and that was why the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Novice Chase was switched to Saturday's card.

It is still hoped that the two chase races will wind up the card after five hurdle races and a bumper.

"We are getting a forecast of a band of rain coming west similar to last night, but not in the same intensity although lingering for a while and leaving about midnight with nothing after that," said Nessa Joyce, Leopardstown's racing operations manager.

"Tomorrow should be a clear enough day but blustery.

"We are going to look at both tracks. The hurdle track is on fresh ground and is in great shape.

"We are not worried about that but we have to check the chase track after it was run on today.

"We hope we don't have to drop the two races on the chase course tomorrow and that we have an eight-race card."
