Chepstow Friday Off

Thu 31st Jan 2013, 09:43

Friday's meeting at Chepstow has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen inspected the course at 8am but admitted there was no point in delaying a decision.

He said: "There's areas of the track that are waterlogged. We had 57 millimetres of rain from Monday to Wednesday and there was 47mm just on Tuesday.

"There was a little rain overnight and while some areas have improved, it is raining again now and there's no point in prevaricating about it."

Will there be another Irish winner at Aintree?

A lot has been said recently about the fact that the Irish contingent at Cheltenham tend to stoke up the fires of Anglo-Irish needle with their flag waving and chest beating due to our incredible success in recent years. As pointed out previously, this is nothing more than a bit of harmless fun that some folk on both sides of the Irish Sea take a little too seriously.
