Ibetellingyoualie stretched clear in good style in the closing stages to land the concluding maiden hunters chase at Clonmel this afternoon.

The race complexion changed at the third last as front-runner Lanespark crashed out and brought down the well-backed By Design (9/2 into 5/2jf).

Pat Collins stayed out of trouble on Ibetellingyoualie who was soon vying for the lead. The Terence O'Brien-trained gelding hit the front two out and scooted away from the last for an eight-and-a-half length success.

The winner had just opened his account in a maiden point-to-point last month.

“We've always thought a bit of him but he disappointed in points last year,” said O'Brien.

“He's going from strength to strength and that's a big step up. Pat said he was hating the ground but he was certainly going on it a lot better than the others.”

The other market leader Final Gift was well held in fifth.
