A bit unfortunate when third here a fortnight back, Blue Ridge Lane landed the concluding race, division two of the Winter Racing At Dundalk Handicap under Shane Foley.

As is so often the case in these types of races, there was a hard luck story, as the runner-up, Casimir Road had to be switched to the outside to deliver his challenge.

Michael Grassick junior's runner, with Niall McCullagh up, had been supported from around 14/1 this morning into 5/1. He kept on well but he couldn't peg back Blue Ridge Lane, going down by a length and a quarter.

The Any News Syndicate own Blue Ridge Lane and he was gaining his second win for trainer John McConnell here. He'd previously scored twice for Dermot Weld as well. (AM & EM)

El Salvador delivers in style

Odds-on in the morning, El Salvador went off at 5/4 for the Maiden in the face of supporter for the likes of Absolutlyfantastic (10s earlier on into half that price). There was no disputing which horse was superior from over a furlong out though as El Salvador (Joseph O'Brien got a 3 day whip ban in the previous race) raced to a four and a half length success.
