Colin Bowe was due to break new ground with a runner at Ffos Las this afternoon but unfortunately Whiskey And Red was found to be lame and will not be making the journey over to south Wales.
The eight-year-old gelding was set to carry top-weight in the Braceys The Friendly Builders Merchant Novices' Handicap Chase having made an excellent start to the season by securing back-to-back victories at Thurles including over three miles in December.
However Bowe was not happy with the gelding when loading him up yesterday evening, and plans to travel to Ffos Las have been shelved.
"I noticed him taking a lame step just as we were about to load him into the box here yesterday evening. It's disappointing but I suppose it was better to find out then rather than later," said Bowe from his Enniscorthy base this morning.
He added, "We'll be heading to the point-to-point in Ballydarragh today instead. I have a few four-year-old's running that have some placed form, so hopefully they will go well."
"Whiskey And Red was due to be my first runner in Ffos Las. The owner has connections over there and said it would be nice to see the horse run. Maybe again some time."
