True Story looked every inch a horse with a bright future when landing the Listed ebm-papst Feilden Stakes at Newmarket in good style.

Saeed bin Suroor's Manduro colt arrived at HQ boasting fancy entries in the Qipco 2000 Guineas, the Betfred Dante Stakes and the Investec Derby and could hardly have been more impressive in beating the well-touted Obliterator by seven lengths.

Silvestre de Sousa had the 5-2 chance positioned in midfield and although he appeared to come off the bridle for a split second when the pace began to quicken, he got better the further he went.

True Story has Bin Suroor dreaming of the Derby at Epsom on June 7.

He said: "I think a mile and a half will be his best trip and he has shown that he has improved since last year. We will take him to the Dante or to Lingfield (Derby Trial) and looking to the future he is a horse for the Derby."

Obliterator, the sole Irish challenger, very much caught the eye running on powerfully from what looked an impossible position and Ger Lyons has plans for his twice-raced Oratorio colt.

He said: "He was first off the bridle but we never have them fully revved up first time out and I am expecting him to come on bundles for the run. His next run will be in the Derrinstown and then I would have thought the King Edward VII at Royal Ascot."
