Cosgrave appeal on Monday

Pat Cosgrave's appeal against a six-month ban will be heard on Monday, the Emirates Racing Authority has confirmed.

The rider was hit with the lengthy ban after he was found to have moved his mount Anaerobio off the rail in the straight to allow fellow Mike de Kock-trainer runner Vercingetorix through on the inside to win the Group One Jebel Hatta at Meydan on March 8.

Anaerobio eventually finished third in the nine-furlong contest, two lengths behind the winner, and the ERA found Cosgrave guilty of a blatant breach of the rule regarding improper riding which has a detrimental image to racing, handing out the suspension following an inquiry last month.

However, Cosgrave appealed against that decision and his case will be heard at the ERA's Dubai offices at 10am on Monday.
