Impressive Aintree winner Balder Succes is likely to stick to novice company when he lines up at the Punchestown Festival next week.

Alan King's six-year-old claimed the Grade One Mildmay Novices' Chase on Merseyside earlier this month, after which the Barbury Castle handler confirmed his charge could head to Ireland.

He has been given an entry in open company in the Boylesports.com Champion Chase on Tuesday, but is set to run in the Ryanair Novice Chase two days later.

"I think Balder Succes will almost certainly run in the Ryanair Novice Chase on the Thursday of Punchestown," said King.

"It was a good performance at Aintree. His last three performances have all been very good and we have been delighted with him. He has taken his race at Aintree very well. Ground does not seem to bother him. He is very versatile in that regard.

"We might also bring over Medermit for the Bibby Financial Services Ireland Punchestown Gold Cup on Wednesday next week."
