Third in the corresponding event a year ago, Hangar Five returned to cause a 14/1 surprise in the 2014 renewal of the 1,760 Euros Average Jackpot Dividend Apprentice Handicap at Ballinrobe.

Aboard his fourth winner, Ian Queally got the visored son of Hawk Wing to the front over a furlong out and the Mrs Pat Flynn-owned six-year-old quickly put the issue to bed.

Pat Flynn's charge ended up with a length and three parts to spare from the slow starting fast finishing favourite Byron Beauty.

Queally commented: "Sometimes he is inclined not to give his all and he was even wandering a bit in the straight but the visor helped him. I must thank Mr Flynn for keeping me on him.

"I might be riding Maudlin Magdalen at Galway next week for Donal Kinsella. I'll do some work on her tomorrow morning."

C.P. Hoban, rider of Easter Spirit, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung left throughout.

R. Coakley, rider of Ariahey (USA), trained by J.Larkin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount finished lame.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ariahey (USA) trained by J.Larkin was found to be lame post race.
