With a tongue-strap and cheek-pieces on to help, Res Ipsa Loquitur justified the faith of those that backed her from 6/1 and a little better this morning into 7/2 for the Bet Online At Thetote.com Mares Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

Under in form Brian O'Connell, the Beneficial mare, who is owned by Seamus Mannion and trained by Johnny Levins, led after two out.

In the end Res Ipsa Loquitur had a length and three parts in hand over Silverpockets (came home well and not helped by a couple of mistakes).

Levins stated: "That was nice. The idea of dropping her back into a maiden was just that I thought she would be more streetwise.

"She travelled a bit better but she has always been a strong traveller in a race. It was just in the latter part of races I thought she was taking time to learn how to quicken off the bridle.

"I just thought putting her in a maiden that she would travel that bit stronger and have one go at them, maybe towards the last, and it's worked a treat.

"She's in again at Limerick on Thursday and provided she passes all the routine checks we may run her again."

The Stewards fined John Brassil, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Definite Response, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards fined G.T.Lynch, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Yanna Hennay, the winner of this race, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91.
