Michael Hourigan plans to give Hash Brown a break following his runaway victory at Limerick last weekend.

The five-year-old was carrying the colours of leading owner JP McManus for the first time in the Grade Three O'Briens Wines Novice Hurdle and secured his third win over obstacles with an impressive display in the hands of Barry Geraghty.

Hourigan is in no rush to nominate future targets for his exciting youngster, but believes he will have no trouble stepping up in distance or handling more testing conditions.

Hourigan said: "We're going to give him a break now. He's been on the go a year and a half and I'd say we'll probably give him a month off.

"We'll probably bring him back in the spring. I don't think he'll be running anywhere at Christmas.

"He did it nicely the other day and I'd say the trip doesn't matter to him. I think he'd do the same over three miles.

"I think he'd go on most ground as well, so we'll make a plan for him when we bring him back."
